“Real estate cannot be lost or stolen, nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full, and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt, U.S. president
Rio Grande Estates is an area with an oversized and somewhat sordid history. At one point, it was considered one of the biggest land swindles in history with the developer, Amrep, being accused of selling desert grazing lots to out-of-state buyers for far more than they were worth.
“Ninety percent of all millionaires become so through owning real estate. More money has been made in real estate than in all industrial investments combined. The wise young man or wage earner of today invests his money in real estate.” – Andrew Carnegie, billionaire industrialist
Because of the Rio Grande Estates history, we were able to acquire this property at a very low price and are offering it through an ebay live auction at a starting bid price of $1. Annual taxes are also next to nothing so it will cost very little to maintain this property as a stopover spot for RV owners, hikers or hunters.

“Don’t wait to buy real estate. Buy real estate and wait.” – Will Rogers, actor
Belen is one of the largest cities in Valencia County. It is geographically at the center of New Mexico and is a transportation hub for the state. There is a commuter railroad to Albuquerque and Santa Fe in Belen and several festivals throughout the year. The total population is around 7,000.
Property values in Belen and Valencia County are likely to see a boost due to the upcoming construction of a Facebook data center in Los Lunas (15 minutes outside of Belen). Los Lunas also recently won a $1.3 million federal grant to bring water infrastructure to the newly constructed Central New Mexico Rail Park. The construction of the rail park and its attendant infrastructure should bring thousands of jobs to the area, raising property values.
